Don’t you just love to market your audiobooks?
I think many people would answer an emphatic NO! to that question, in part because they feel uncertain how to proceed.
I recently had the pleasure of being a guest writer on the ACX.com blog to discuss this very topic. I love marketing so much that I couldn’t contain myself to 1 article, so I wrote 2 of them!
In Part One, I explained some reasons why people are resistant to listening to audiobooks. I then offer 3 ways to make your audiobooks more discoverable to an audience.
Part Two contains 4 more ways to promote your audiobooks and includes some very specific tactics on several social media sites. Both articles and their comments include examples from other narrators and me.
Obviously, marketing is such a broad topic and is subject to one’s availability and creativity that I couldn’t possibly write about every idea.
For instance, I didn’t offer any information about Pinterest. Pinterest is a completely visual site frequented mostly by women, and many of those women love to read! I’ve seen boards (photo albums) of audiobooks they’ve heard, audiobooks they want to get, audiobooks in a genre, etc.
I pin the audiobook cover on a board of my titles. I like seeing which titles have been re-pinned. I haven’t been too active on Pinterest but want to do more there. I also have read about publishers using Instagram to promote their titles.
What works for you? I’d love to see your comments, either here or on the ACX blog!
